Salmon & Sweet Potato Feast
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless wild-caught salmon fillet
- 2 cups sweet potato, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup brown rice, dry
- 1 cup green beans, chopped
- 1/2 cup carrots, diced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 4 cups water
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Rinse brown rice thoroughly and combine with 3 cups water in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 35-40 minutes until tender and water is absorbed.
- While rice cooks, steam sweet potato cubes in a steamer basket over boiling water for 15 minutes until fork-tender. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a separate pan, poach salmon in 1 cup water over medium-low heat for 12-15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F. Remove skin and any bones, then flake into bite-sized pieces.
- Steam green beans and carrots together for 8-10 minutes until crisp-tender. Roughly chop after cooking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, steamed sweet potato (lightly mashed), flaked salmon, steamed vegetables, and fresh spinach.
- Drizzle olive oil over mixture and fold gently until evenly distributed. Allow to cool completely to room temperature before serving.
- Portion into individual servings based on dog's weight and refrigerate or freeze as directed.

🧊 Safety & Storage
Store refrigerated portions in airtight glass containers for up to 4 days. Freeze individual servings in silicone molds or freezer bags for up to 3 months. Thaw frozen portions overnight in refrigerator only—never microwave. Discard any food left uneaten after 2 hours at room temperature. Always wash hands and surfaces thoroughly after handling raw salmon.
⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Do not substitute salmon with tilapia or catfish as omega-3 content drops significantly. Avoid white potato instead of sweet potato due to different glycemic impact and reduced beta-carotene. Never replace olive oil with coconut oil without recalculating fat ratios. Omitting the complete vitamin-mineral powder will cause severe nutritional deficiencies within weeks.
