Kitten Starter Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken thigh, cooked and diced
- 2 oz (57g) chicken liver, cooked and minced
- 1 large egg, hard-boiled and mashed
- 2 tbsp cooked pumpkin puree (plain, no spices)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cook chicken thigh thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Dice into small pieces appropriate for a kitten's mouth.
- Boil the chicken liver until fully cooked (no pink remaining), then mince finely.
- Hard-boil the egg and mash it completely, including the shell if you are not adding a separate calcium source (see supplements).
- Cook the brown rice according to package directions. Ensure it is soft and easily mashable.
- Mix the diced chicken, minced liver, mashed egg, pumpkin puree, and cooked brown rice in a bowl.
- Add olive oil and chicken broth. Stir until well combined and the texture is a chunky, moist mixture.
- Divide the mixture into individual portions based on your kitten's weight (see serving size). Refrigerate portions not used immediately.

🧊 Safety & Storage
Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze individual portions for up to 2 months. Thaw frozen portions in the refrigerator, never at room temperature. Always serve at room temperature or slightly warmed. Discard any uneaten wet food after 30 minutes to prevent bacterial growth.
⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Do not substitute plant-based proteins for animal proteins; cats are obligate carnivores. Do not omit taurine or Vitamin A sources, as deficiency causes blindness and heart failure. Avoid onions, garlic, grapes, and all alliums which are toxic to cats.
