Kitten Starter Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)
  • 200g chicken liver
  • 100g chicken hearts
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 150g canned sardines in water (drained)
  • 100g butternut squash
  • 50g carrots
  • 30g spinach
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 cup water for cooking

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Dice chicken thighs into small kitten-bite sized pieces, approximately 1cm cubes
  2. Rinse and pat dry chicken liver and hearts, then roughly chop
  3. Peel and dice butternut squash and carrots into small pieces
  4. Wash spinach thoroughly and chop finely
  5. Heat 1 tbsp sunflower oil in a large pan over medium heat
  6. Add chicken thighs, liver, and hearts to the pan, cooking for 8-10 minutes until no longer pink inside
  7. Add butternut squash and carrots with 1 cup water, cover and simmer for 15 minutes until vegetables are very soft
  8. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes
  9. In a separate bowl, beat the 2 eggs and add to the cooled mixture, stirring rapidly to create a custard-like texture
  10. Add drained sardines, breaking them into small pieces
  11. Stir in chopped spinach and remaining 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  12. Blend or mash to a consistency appropriate for kittens transitioning to solid food
  13. Divide into daily portions and store appropriately

Per 100g of prepared food, add: Taurine 50mg, Calcium carbonate 500mg, Zinc gluconate 10mg, Vitamin E 15 IU, Vitamin B-complex 1/4 adult dose. Mix supplements thoroughly into food immediately before serving.
