Puppy Growth Formula
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
- 1 cup brown rice (uncooked)
- 1 cup sweet potato, diced
- 1/2 cup green beans, chopped
- 1/2 cup carrots, diced
- 1 tbsp ground eggshell (see supplement section for prep)
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 4 cups water (for cooking rice)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Rinse brown rice and combine with 4 cups of water in a large pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 35-40 minutes until water is absorbed and rice is tender.
- While rice cooks, peel and dice sweet potato into 1/2-inch cubes. Steam or boil for 15 minutes until fork-tender, then mash lightly with a fork.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground turkey for 8-10 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until fully cooked with no pink remaining.
- Steam green beans and carrots for 8-10 minutes until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.
- Combine cooked rice, turkey, mashed sweet potato, green beans, and carrots in a large mixing bowl. Stir in canola oil until evenly distributed.
- Prepare eggshell powder: rinse 2 eggshells, bake at 250°F for 10 minutes to sterilize, then grind to a fine powder in a coffee grinder. Add 1 tablespoon to the mixture and stir thoroughly.
- Allow the complete mixture to cool to room temperature before serving. Divide into daily portions and refrigerate or freeze as needed.

🧊 Safety & Storage
Refrigerate portions in airtight containers for up to 4 days, or freeze individual portions in ice cube trays or small containers for up to 3 months. Thaw frozen portions overnight in the refrigerator. Always serve at room temperature or slightly warmed—never microwave. Discard any uneaten food after 30 minutes. Wash hands and all utensils with hot soapy water after handling. Transition to this food gradually over 7-10 days by mixing with current food in increasing ratios.
⚠️ Recipe Drift Warning
Do not substitute ground turkey with higher-fat meats (80/20) as excess fat can cause pancreatitis in puppies. Do not replace brown rice with white rice—it lacks essential B-vitamins. Sweet potato cannot be substituted with white potato due to different glycemic profiles. Eggshell calcium must NOT be replaced with bone meal without veterinary guidance—bone meal can contain dangerous heavy metal contamination. Do not add onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, or xylitol in any form as these are toxic to dogs.
